Yesterday marked the fifth year that my boyfriend and I have been together. What better way to celebrate than with a road trip?

We went to Kingston to see the law school (for him) and walked around the perimeter of the penitentiary, which is a massive and impressive compound.

We walked through the ship yard, and then returned to the prison for a self-guided tour at the museum across the street. It was crazy to see the things that prisoners have made in the past with the things available to them. The items ranged from weapons to toasters, all made from toothbrushes, cigarette boxes, pens, tape, and other ordinary things. I really liked seeing the types of keys used for handcuffs, and how they've changed through history. They used to be so simple in the past.

For lunch we toured one end of Princess street. They had dishes of water for dogs periodically down the street. I found that really nice.

To cap off the day, we ended up at the casino in Gananoque. I have never had so much fun loosing money! I think I did fairly well, staying even, until suddenly my pile of chips was reduced to one at the blackjack table. Mark wasn't doing quite so well. There were some guys at the table who had piles and piles of chips and were betting so much that I wanted to yell at them to stop. Granted, I was only betting $5 a hand.

For my final chip I went to the 5 cent slot machines. That also didn't work out so well for me.

The entire day was a blast though. It was a perfect anniversary road trip. Prison and gambling, what else could a girl want?
